Graduation

It's graduation season! This time of year makes me think back to my husband finishing up nursing school. It was a stressful 2 years and we were both so excited for him to be done!!

While it was a couple of years ago, I thought it would be fun to share what I created for him to commemorate his special day, and celebrate his huge accomplishment!

Of course, I had to make him a card, so I decided to make him INTO a card...
There he is with his white scrubs, stethoscopes, and his favorite color blue.

My mom and I had planned a surprise party so I wanted to do something special for that. I decided to create a chalkboard about the nursing program and some of what he had experienced.
I would ask him random questions (like how many preceptor hours he had to do) and then secretly writing down the answers so I would have accurate information to work with.

It took some time to make, especially while trying to keep it a secret! It was so fun to display at his party. Everyone loved it!
We also decorated with vintage medicine bottles and containers of various candies marked as hallucinogens, mood stabilizers, and stimulants. How silly!

Sadly, this year graduates won't experience commencement ceremonies and parties but that should not take away from their accomplishments! Be proud of yourself for what you have achieved! And if there's a special grad in your life, please give them your love and support. They deserve it!!

Wedding Portraits 2 of 14

This is one of my husband's favorite of our wedding pictures. There are actually 2 others similar to this and he couldn't decide which one to get so we have all 3.
We are really big on astrology and astronomy so I was really drawn to this paper. I wanted to incorporate it with the vintage and natural theme of our pictures and I am really happy with the result!

pet sympathy cards

These are the absolute worst cards to have to make. A coworker lost her little dog not long before Christmas so I made her a card to hopefully make her feel better.
After posting it online a friend of mine saw it and, sadly, she knew someone who needed one, too.
I got one made up as quickly as I could and in the mail for her to give. I hate that people need these but I hope they offer at least some comfort.

Theodore

So excited for this new Sizzix/Tim Holtz Colorize release! This adorable little bear showed up on my doorstep today and I cannot wait for this weekend so I can spend some time with him! I can see it now... Black bears, brown bears, white bears...Oh my! I cannot wait. Stay tuned!

Wedding Portraits 1 of 14

Wedding days are full of so much commotion and ours was no exception. We wanted beautiful, romantic wedding photos but there just wasn't enough time on our special day to capture the images we had hoped for. We decided that for our first anniversary (traditional theme being paper) we would get wedding portraits done. This was so much fun because we got to not only dress up like it was our wedding day again but we were able to take the time we wanted and needed to get the pictures just right.  I spent a lot of time planning and designing the layouts for each of the 14 photos. I cannot wait until they are all done because I know this scrapbook will be beautiful!

superbowl XLIX -- go hawks!

i have to be honest -- i am not a football fan BUT my husband is a HUGE seahawks fan and his excitement and dedication to the team is so contagious. we got into the spirit this year for the superbowl and have had a lot of fun so far.

first thing I did was make my hunny a goody bag of green and blue skittles...

next, my mom made some bandanas for our pets so we made sure to get those on and represent to the other critters in the neighborhood!

then i made some cookies for our superbowl party -- only green and blue m&m's allowed!

finally, sunday morning my husband wanted facepaint for the big day so we got to work on that...

oh, and i got into it a little too and did green and blue eyeshadow...

it has been fun so far preparing for the game and now we are ready! john is wearing his  seahawks sweater, shirt, and socks, we've got snacks on the table and a comfy spot in front of the TV. now just have to wait for the game to start.
GO HAWKS!!!

happy halloween, husband!

this is my first Halloween with a husband! we both like the walking dead and have a few zombie jokes so I really wanted to make him a zombie card this year. I couldn't decide if I wanted to draw one or print one or what -- then I decided to try to make one with my paper doll cricut cart. here is what I came up with...
I made the eyes and mouth myself as there weren't a lot of creepy zombie options in the cartridge. then I used red stickles for the blood. the front says "bwaaaains" and the inside says "is zombie for 'I love you".
I also made him a treat bag like I did for many of our family members. of course his was the biggest!
I covered it with glow in the dark spider web. I cut the rings off the bat rings and glued them to the front of the bag. he loved his card and treat bag!
hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween!

happy halloween!

Boo!!! it is Halloween once again! this year I made cute little treat bags from my cricut and filled them with candy (as my niece kaylie said -- the good stuff)
i made 3 different sizes in different shades of orange. each has a different Halloween image stamped on the front and they all are covered in glow in the dark spider webs! i hooked plastic bat rings around the handle and hung nametags from there. this was a fun project that took hardly any time at all.

hope you enjoy! have a safe and happy Halloween!
